Generations in Faith Together

Generations in Faith Together (GiFT) events reflect FPC’s desire to be an intentionally intergenerational community of faith. Intergenerational ministry is characterized by people across the generations doing life together – sharing, learning, growing and serving in relationships. It emphasizes community and the building of deep, genuine relationships.

Intergenerational ministry seeks to actively engage and equally value the gifts and needs of every generation. We are most fully the people of God when we are gathered for worship, service, learning, and fellowship together with all ages. We learn, worship, serve, and build community best when we honor the perspectives and gifts of all ages.

Summer GiFT

Summer GiFT is FPC’s intergenerational alternative to VBS. At Summer GiFT, all ages are invited to learn, worship, and fellowship with one another as we build relationships in a joy-filled environment.

Summer GiFT 2023 Recap

Once again Summer GiFT (Generations in Faith Together) plans had to be changed due to the weather. Last year we had to move inside due to extreme heat and this year a stormy forecast prompted a change of plans. We gathered Friday evening, June 2nd, at Lake McMurtry for dinner, a campfire, songs and energizers, small group time, and planned to end the evening with Vespers as it grew dark. Instead, Mother Nature opened the skies and it poured on us after only a couple hours of fellowship together. There was much laughter and dancing in the rain before we called it a night.

Sunday morning we gathered in Fellowship Hall for breakfast and decorating friendship rocks to leave little notes of encouragement for others. Keep an eye open for those rocks around the church and around town – you may find one where you least expect it! Summer GiFT worship was an interactive and creative service involving all attendees with singing, a time for sharing stories of seeing God’s work within FPC and in our lives, and the celebration of Communion. If you weren’t able to join us this year, consider coming along for Summer GiFT in 2024! We’d love to see the entire congregation gather together to celebrate God’s work in the world.

Past Summer GiFT Events

2022 Summer GiFT

The hot weather moved our Summer GiFT campout indoors, but we had lots of fun celebrating what it means to be the body of Christ together.

2021 Summer GiFT

ReNew – Grow in Faith, Have Fun, Change the World

All ages gathered to learn more about God’s call to care for God’s creation and to study the Parable of the Sower. Activities and conversation based on the 2021 Summer GiFT theme can be found on Faithful Families website here.

2019 Summer GiFT

Theme: Will You Be My Neighbor?

With inspiration from scripture and Mr. Fred Rogers (a Presbyterian pastor!), we reflected on God’s call to love our neighbors as ourselves.

2018 Summer GiFT

Theme: All God’s Creatures

Our theme for the week, All God’s Creatures, was inspired by the work of Heifer International. We had large and small group activities focused on God’s care and love for all of creation and learned how we are called to make a difference in the world.
