FPC Welcomes New Associate Pastor

Jenny Hardin joins pastoral staff at First Presbyterian Church

Jenny Hardin recently accepted the call to serve as Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church.  Jenny has a B.A. in Theatre and Liberal Arts (majors) and Religious Studies (minor) from Monmouth College and a Master of Divinity from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.  Originally from Illinois, she brings to us a range of experience in preaching and pastoral care, work with children, youth, as well as university students, and community outreach.  Jenny also has experience leading spirituality retreats and summer camp.  As part of her service to the wider church, Jenny serves on the Board of Directors of More Light Presbyterians, whose programs help churches and individuals “build their capacity and develop new skills to deepen their welcome to LGBTQIA+ people within their churches and in their wider communities.”

Jenny believes being present as the church and connecting with others on the individual level is the first step toward reconciliation in the world.  “By learning to tell our own stories of reconciliation (with God and with others) and learning to listen to the stories of others, we begin and continue the process of reconciling the world.  Additionally, knowing that our God is a God of abundant love, we are tasked as Christians with making that love known in the world.  What better way to do this than through active listening, hearing the stories of others, and being present for them?”

She will be installed into the position of Associate Pastor on Sunday, February 10 at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church.
