November Meeting (reservations required by Friday November 17):

At our November 20th meeting, Gary and Nancy Simpson will be joining us and presenting “D-Day Landing Sites:  Then and Now”.  This program combines historical photographs taken D-Day 1944 and photographs taken on a visit to the D-Day landing sites about 10 years ago to tell the story of the American troops involved in this historic event.  This photo essay covers the American paratroop landing sites, Point du Hoc, Utah Beach, Omaha Beach, the German Cemetery at La Cambe, and the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach.  The stories of several of the real people involved in the D-Day invasion are included.

December - No Meeting

January 2018 Meeting (reservations required by Friday January 12):

At our January 15th meeting, Dr. Belinda Bruner will be presenting a program in honor of Martin Luther King Day.  Classical music, dance, theatre, literature, and the visual arts all have European roots, and there are few art forms native to the United States of America. Of those few, many were developed by African Americans. In this program, we will look at American art forms invented by African Americans with special attention to the controversies of The Harlem Renaissance, and major figures in the development of blues, ragtime, and jazz.
