Association for a More Just Society (AJS) Invitation to Honduras!

AJS requests applicants to attend a new office building dedication on 25 January 2020 in Honduras. FPC members Scott and Brenda Johnson have been active there for many years and encourage our participation and continued financial and moral support. The FPC World Missions and Denominational Concerns Committee have endorsed it and have donated to AJS in the past. You can find more information and an online application form at https://www.ajsbuildingcelebration.org/ and https://www.ajs-us.org/content/building_updates. Scott Johnson says, “The person attending does not need to know Spanish. We will have translators (and probably electronic headsets for translation) when necessary. We have a big group attending and our staff is working hard on logistics so the earlier the decision, the better. It would definitely be best to decide before the end of July if possible but there is some flexibility. There are 2, 4 or 7-day trip options [respectively January 24-26, 22-26 and 19-26]. I would really encourage whoever is attending to go for a longer trip. We have arranged for amazing speakers and it will be a great time to see some incredible programs that address violence, corruption and injustice. It will also be an opportunity learn about the theology of justice and the some of the issues in Central America that create pressure for migration. I’m happy to respond to any questions.” Note that a generous AJS donor has made some scholarships available for this dedication and conference. If you are potentially interested, please respond ASAP to billhenleyok@gmail.com, and I will provide you with additional correspondence.

God loves this world and calls us into it as disciples of Jesus. Christ calls each of us to be peacemakers, reconcilers, advocates for social justice, and bearers of God's Good News in places near and far. We are invited into Christian community not just for ourselves, but for the sake of others.
