Fair Trade Store

Jason Woods developed the idea of the Fair Trade Store in 2008.  That fall, the mission committee offered a huge fair trade sale featuring Peruvian products from Partners for Just Trade. In 2009, the FTS opened in its permanent location in the Hospitality Area.  In this 7th year of the FTS, it continues to be the focal point of the Hospitality Area.

During 2016, the FTS purchased food and gift items from the following fair trade companies:

Equal Exchange: coffee/tea/chocolate/olive oil

SERRV: folk art/food/olive oil

Mayan Hands: Guatemalan crafts

UPAVIM: Guatemalan crafts

Partners for Just Trade: Peruvian crafts

Global Crafts: world crafts

Lucuma: Peruvian crafts

World Finds:  jewelry

The FTS is open on Sundays between services during the school year and open before and after the 9:30 summer services.  If church services are held in the Fellowship Hall, the store is usually closed. The store is usually open extra hours in December and the evening of Living Nativity.

A pool of 24 volunteers work in the FTS, with two volunteers working most Sundays and four volunteers each Sunday in November and December.  The volunteer names are gathered from the Time and Talent sheets.
