Into the Light: Finding Hope Through Prayers of Lament
The Old and New Testaments are filled with prayers to God, and many of these prayers are laments.
Our faith offers an option when we are faced with conflict, grief, death, or change: lament. Laments spoken to God are prayers. Lament is not whining. It is not about demanding that our feelings and our stories be the prime focus. Lament is not venting or blowing off steam. When we lament within our relationship with God, we move from suffering to faith. In our faith there is hope. We lament in order to hope.
